Part 1. Getting Started: Understanding the Current Traceability Landscape and Designing Stakeholder Engagement for a Successful Traceability Program

March 8 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

* This webinar is a part of the SALT Seafood Comprehensive Traceability Principles Webinar Series.

About This Webinar:

Theme: Stakeholder Engagement

Electronic traceability programs are an essential tool to address critical issues in seafood supply chains, including IUU fishing, mislabeling of products, and protecting legal and equitable work conditions for seafood laborers. They can also help provide necessary data for more effective fisheries management and new import requirements of major seafood markets. However, without effective stakeholder engagement, one might create an electronic traceability program that only addresses the needs of a limited group of stakeholders, missing out on reaping all the potential benefits of electronic traceability.

In this webinar, SALT will introduce two of the six Principles: ‘Be inclusive and collaborative with stakeholders’ and ‘Use data to inform decision-making.’ These Principles are particularly important in the early phases of traceability program development to understand what data are needed and how to use the data to achieve multi-faceted goals.

Participants will learn details of these Principles, how to apply them, and hear from SALT’s local partners how these Principles have been adopted in real-world traceability efforts.
